Desperate to win a high-stakes dune buggy at the "Family Funtime" arcade, Louise, Gene, and Tina realize the games are rigged against them. They enlist the help of their eccentric landlord, Mr. Fischoeder, who trains them in the "dark arts" of arcade manipulation.

The heist takes a turn when Louise discovers that of Family Funtime. He set the kids up to get caught so he could use them as "proof" to his partners that the dune buggy prize was attracting too many cheaters and should be removed.
