The Discovery groaned as the spore drive engaged in a way it was never intended. A flash of mycelial light struck the station. For a heartbeat, the station stabilized.

"Captain, the station’s structural integrity is at 12%," Saru reported, his voice calm despite the tremors shaking the deck. "The DMA's edge will reach them in four minutes."

The Discovery banked hard, the hull screaming under the pressure. Using the exploding remains of the Luma Station as a literal shield, the ship caught the shockwave and was propelled backward, tumbling through space until it cleared the anomaly's reach. Silence returned. The ship drifted, battered but whole.
