: The government-controlled Kumtor Gold Company (KGC) disputed these findings, calling them "untrue" and claiming that water levels were normal and similar to levels seen as far back as 2010.
As of April 2026, the dispute has since been settled; in April 2022, Centerra and the Kyrgyz Republic reached an out-of-court agreement where Centerra relinquished its interest in the mine to the state.
